Judge Salvatore Vasta snipes at Family Court’s ‘new-found work ethic’

Federal Circuit Court judge Salvatore Vasta has taken aim at the Family Court’s work ethic and the timing of five appeal judgments that led to speculation he could be “the worst judge in Australia”. In a memo sent to Federal Circuit Court (FCC) judges on March 1, Judge Vasta conceded some of the criticism was “well and truly justified”. However, he offered a biting comment on the cases decided by the full court of the Family Court during his stint as Acting Chief Judge of the FCC.
